Review: Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Bookstore

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was funny, it was charming, it included a quest, ancient books, historical info on typography, lots of computing power, and a dungeon master. What more could you want from a book? Also, the ending was perfect for the story.

"A man walking fast down a dark lonely street. Quick steps and hard breathing, all wonder and need. A bell above a door and the tinkle it makes. A clerk and a ladder and warm golden light, and then: the right book exactly, at exactly the right time." (p. 288)

If you want a second opinion, check out the Indextrious Reader's review which also includes a very cool reading map.

  1. Glad to hear you were also charmed by this one! And thanks for the compliment, I had a lot of fun creating that reading map :)
