I enjoyed this novel. It was a page-turner and included several suprises (at 500+ pages it better!) and some interesting characters. Some of the reviews and promotions for the book talk about a "big twist" which I don't think it really delivered on as there were several surprises, but none were unpredictable as you got into the book. If you enjoyed Drood, The Historian, or Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell you may enjoy this as it has a similar Victorian gentleman's club ambiance to it and thriller-like pace.
My sister bought this one recently and quite fancied reading it too. I think I definitely will now :)
