Prime Cut by Diane Mott Davidson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Goldy is up to her old tricks again, snooping around and getting mixed up in crimes. This is a reliable series--if you liked one of them you will like the others as they all variations on a theme. The usual cast of characters appears in this novel, though Marla--the wacky best friend--was not as involved as she is sometimes. I didn't think the title fit the story though as neither meat nor stabbings are a major part of the story.
Mixed into the story are recipes and a couple of them sounded yummy (jailbreak potatoes, Andre's coq au vin, and girdle cakes in particular). There is a scene where Goldy is raving about fudge her assistant has made and I was annoyed not to find that recipe.
This book counts toward the 2014 Foodies Read challenge.
