Classics Club Spin

Classics Club is hosting a spin (#23 for those keeping count at home). In an effort to get back into both reading and blogging I am jumping in. The number will be chosen on 4/19 and I will have until 6/1 to finish the chosen book. I assembled my list primarily based on which books I already have in the house. I was a few short, so if one of the non-owned ones is the assignment I will have to order it.
Here is my list:

  1. Doctor Zhivago, Boris Pasternak, 1957
  2. Great Expectations, Charles Dickens, 1860
  3. The Spy who Came in from the Cold, John le Carre, 1963
  4. Martin Chuzzlewit, Charles Dickens, 1844
  5. Nicholas Nickleby, Charles Dickens, 1839
  6. Maurice, E. M. Forster, 1971
  7. New Grub Street, George Gissing, 1891
  8. Where Angels Fear to Tread, E. M. Forster, 1905
  9. The Grand Sophy, Georgette Heyer, 1950
  10. The Decameron, Giovanni Boccaccio, 1353
  11. Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales, the Brothers Grimm
  12. Walden, Henry David Thoreau, 1854
  13. Out of Africa, Isak Dinesen, 1937
  14. Double Indemnity, James M. Cain, 1936
  15. Rabbit, Run, John Updike, 1960
  16. Auntie Mame, Patrick Dennis, 1955
  17. The Second Sex, Simone de Beauvoir, 1949
  18. The Turn of the Screw, Henry James, 1898
  19. The Moonstone, Wilkie Collins, 1868
  20. The Story of Philosophy, Will Durant, 1926

  1. I really struggled with Out of Africa when I got it a few spins ago, so I hope you do better with it. A Collins, Dickens, Forster or Pasternak would be much more satisfying :-)
