Death and Judgment by Donna Leon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was a more interesting mystery than the previous books in the series presented. However, I am definitely reading these books for the characters. The solving of the crime seems more like a vehicle for Paola's soapbox speeches and Brunetti's musings on the nature of right and wrong than an actual mystery to be solved. The outrageous level of corruption in the Italian government is shocking, at least as Leon presents it. I have been listening to these, rather than reading them, and am very pleased with the narrator David Colacci's reading.
