The Price of Salt

I liked this book better than I have liked the other Highsmith novels I have read (Ripley ones). The main character in this story was someone I could root for. I loved the beginning where she works in a big department store as it reminded me of my first job (at B. Altman & Co). The writing was very good--the places and the people were easy to picture from the descriptions--and the story moved along at a nice even pace. 

This book is on my classics club list and counts toward the 2023 TBR pile challenge.
