Corpse in a Guilded Cage

Corpse In A Gilded CageCorpse In A Gilded Cage
by Robert Barnard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I discovered Robert Barnard (1936-2013) last year and have really liked the three books I have read so far by him. I began with A Little Local Murder (1976) which was his first novel. I was absolutely blown away by how great A Scandal in Belgravia was.
Corpse in a Gilded Cage was about a working-class London family that inherits a huge estate and the title that goes with it which leads pretty quickly to murder. There is nothing graphically violent in the book and there is a good amount of humor (though dark humor) in the novel. Barnard wrote about 40 novels and I look forward to reading them all.
This book counts toward the Cruising Through the Cozies challenge as a book "set outside the US".

  1. I love Robert Barnard's books. I may have read Corpse In A Gilded Cage but if so, it was a long time ago. I should read it again. I think A Scandal in Belgravia is one I have not read, so will see if I can find it on my shelves.
